Abstract
A recorded conversation on deliberation across traditions that do not share premises, and on what can still be decided together. The session asked how a deliberative process can help people reach a deeper sense of who they are in relation to others, and connect to those who seem distant.

About this conversation
Most defences of deliberation are procedural: the right room, the right evidence, the right question. This session took the other half seriously — what the practice asks of the person sitting in the chair. The panel came at it from meditation, from the ethics of science, and from electoral reform, and the common ground turned out to be the discipline of sitting with someone whose premises you do not share.
The recording is above, and it is the work: this series publishes the conversation as it happened rather than a write-up of it. What follows is the record of who was in the room and how the session was run.
