Abstract
A recorded conversation on how a deliberative process could respond to a national industrial strategy: what industry and academia each bring to it, where their expertise carries natural authority, and where it needs the wisdom of a wider room. The question put to the panel: can citizens' assemblies help businesses, universities and local councils navigate the UK Government's industrial strategy and drive alignment across them?

About this conversation
A national industrial strategy is written centrally and delivered locally, by firms, universities and councils whose incentives do not automatically align. This session asked whether a deliberative process could do the aligning — and where the expertise of industry and academia carries natural authority, as against where it needs a wider room to say what the strategy is ultimately for.
The recording is above, and it is the work: this series publishes the conversation as it happened rather than a write-up of it. What follows is the record of who was in the room and how the session was run.
